Quick note for tonight - sleep awaits

Today went well. Didn't have work, so got a lot of things done - mostly paperwork and stuff. I went to the VA and stayed for the alumni meeting. It was great to get back there, and I am looking forward to next week and going back again. I had dinner at the meeting, which set me over the day's budget, but it was worth it.

Work tomorrow and Friday, then up to Boston for the weekend.

one mile, no sweat

ok, there was actually a lot of sweat. but I did run a mile today. it felt great. I ate three nature valley peanut butter granola bars, an activia yogurt, a roast beef and cheese sandwich, and had a smart ones stuffed turkey breast for dinner.
I awoke at 530, had breakfast and was at work by 730. I finished in Bellport, and went to Huntington and worked there until 5, when I left to goto the VA for my weekly appointment.

Overall, today was fantastic!

sunday sunshine

hello all. I worked today, a sunday. I only worked because, after being out 4 days with a bad back, I needed the money. I woke up late, and in a bad mood, and therefore, the rest of the day I continued to be in a bad mood, and tired. I really wanted to just get back into bed when I got home from work, but I decided to go walking. I did an hour's walk at a good pace again. My muscles were sore after Friday's walk because I neglected to stretch properly. So today was good, because I got the muscles working, and got the lactic acid out of there, plus it was good just to listen to music and not concentrate on anything. So here I am, back home, sweaty and loving it.

New weigh-in!!!

I was at the VA today and got a chance to weigh myself, the first time since April 27th. Lo and behold, I lost 5 pounds! It seems that my body is continuing its weight loss even though I was off-track for a while. So, now that I am back on track, I'm excited to see how well I can continue to lose weight and get in better shape.

I walked yesterday for an hour and fifteen minutes. It was great. Tonight my plan is some strength training before an early bedtime, as I have work tomorrow.

For food today, I had:
 a smart ones slow roasted turkey breast
 2 smart ones pizza
 and four cups of milk.

Last night the attack of the late night munchies kicked my ass, and so I ate crap. I had done so well during the day, but hey, it happens. I just have to work hard to get my discipline back. Tonight's another chance.

Lookee lookee, it's the Friday Five - 5/21/10

So, the Friday Five. I have no topic or category, so we're just gonna fake it tonight, and hope that by next week, I'll have some sort of idea what to do here.

So, number 5:
     I went walking today for the first time in six weeks or so. Very pleased about that.
Number 4:
     I returned to work today after being out since last Friday after I injured my back. So far no back problems, and that's great.
Number 3:
    I have logged my food today, getting back in the swing of things. That's definitely awesome.
Number 2:
    I was able to cross off a few of my items on my "to do list" this week, and that's always satisfying.
Aaaand number 1:
    I'm blessed and highly favored.

Short work day...

First a recap of the goals I set last night, for today: I woke up at a decent hour and ate breakfast. I was on the road at 830. A little later than I wanted, but not late enough to bother me. I have been eating every 3 hours and my next meal is at 5pm. I have logged my food intake, which I'll get to below. I started out the day with a positive attitude, and lo and behold it was a positive day! So, all in all, today is going well so far.

For breakfast, I had a stuffed breakfast sandwich, a bagel with laughing cow garlic herb cheese, 2% milk, and orange juice. I had a jello sugar-free pudding for a morning snack. For lunch, I had a roast beef sandwich. Not too bad, been drinking water, but not enough, so that's where I'm headed.

Nightly musings, 5/20

I have to work at Bellport tomorrow. Which is nice, because it is close and that means not oo much traffic. However, I realized tonight that I left my battery and charger out at Bay Shore last Friday after I injured my back. So I have to travel out there first, and pick it up (hopefully it's there) and then turn around and come back to begin the day in Bellport.

My Dad turned 61 yesterday, and we celebrated with him by going to Mohegan Sun. It was a nice trip, we met my Uncle for dinner along the way, and then spent a while gambling. We had fun and I'm glad my Dad enjoyed it.

I'm still working on migrating all my stuff over to the MacBook Pro. Tonight I finally set up the stuff so I can pay my bills, because they'll all be do this coming week or so. Spent some time cleaning the room up, because it certainly needed it.

The goals for tomorrow:
    Wake up at a decent time, early enough so that I can eat breakfast and leave the house between 7am and 730.
    Stay on track with the 3-hour schedule for meals. On track right now means within an hour each way.
    Log everything I eat. Even if it's not something in the plan.
    Try to have a positive attitude. Not saying it'll happen, but the goal is to try.
    Work hard and be proud of the day's accomplishments.

I hope everyone out there (who still visit, after seeing that this site spent quite a while without an update) is well, and has enjoyed their week so far.

The remix starts tomorrow.

I finally put some effort into getting things done. I went food shopping today with Dad, and set up a meal plan for the next week. It sets up lunch and two snacks at work. I am going to get back on that 3-hour time frame for meals, and get the metabolism straightened out. Also, breakfast comes back tomorrow morning as well, as that has been lacking since I started working. So, we're here at the beginning, again. Because "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

An easy day at work, and a nice surprise.

I had a slow easy day at work, with no stress and no hurry. I relaxed, chatted with some friends, and listened to music while assembling the small amount of grills I had. At the end of the day, I got to my car, and a business card was stuck in my front door. Written in ink on the card was a simple message: "Thank you for serving our country!! - Tommy I." It was unexpected, and incredibly uplifting and special. I have stickers on my car that show that I am a Marine, and an Iraq veteran. This guy went out of his way to notice the stickers and took time out of his day to leave a thank you. It made me tear up then, and I am tearing up now thinking about it. Thank YOU Tommy, for that wonderful lift to my day.

in need of a reboot it seems.

So, it's the second week of May, and my program and progress has gotten all shot to shit. I have blamed it on work, and to an extent that is a reasonable excuse, but I'm no longer happy with that. At the start of this expedition, way back in January, I made it a point to, if nothing else, at least log my food. I'm not even doing that anymore. This shit has got to stop. I work, yes, but that isn't my life, and isn't a good reason to stop doing something that is healthy and necessary for me. So, I've decided. Saturday is May 15th, and I'm getting back on the horse. I have access to both a fridge and a microwave at work, and will start packing my lunches and eating on a schedule, like before. I am also going to make a point to, if nothing else, exercise each day. At no point in the last 6 weeks did working outweigh health, so there's no reason that I should have let it take over my day-to-day things. I've had enough, and it's time to redouble my efforts, and begin with renewed energy and determination.

the weekend is here! love it

made it through another work week. This one was a light week, as I am still transitioning. I hope that the coming work week will allow me to resume a decent workout schedule. That is my goal. I figure in the mornings before work, some pushups, situps, etc. should be a good start, and we'll improve from there.

on a separate note, my old hp laptop is pretty much done and will go into the shop this weekend, so i am coming to you now from a 13.3 inch macbook pro. it's my first mac and i absolutely love it.

Welcome to week 19

Well, this week gained a pound. Oh well. Still getting acclimated to working and all that, so I'm not too upset about a 1 pound gain. Work today was alright.
On a separate topic, I would recommend this link: http://www.marinecause.com/ It is a proposal to change the name of the Department of the Navy to the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps. I agree with it wholeheartedly.
Other than that, not much to post right now, I'll be back later.

Well, the weekend came and went, and I ate dominos for something like the last three meals. Not good really. Also haven't gone out food shopping for this week, and it's already 8pm on Sunday night. So it looks as if that just isn't going to happen tonight. Oh well.

Welcome to the weekend.

So, another week has gone by. I survived work, yet haven't really gotten settled in with taking lunch to work or following a good eating schedule. That's the plan for this week, and it starts tomorrow. Tomorrow I need to go food shopping, and create a 5-day menu for breakfast, lunch, two snacks each day. That way, when I am hungry at work, I have something healthy to munch on. I've already covered this topic, yet haven't actually gotten it to work yet.

Anyway, really enjoying the fact that I am working again. I may not be enjoying the actual act of working, but like that I am out of my house more often, and the extra money is kinda nice.
